Cooper R. McHatton

Associate

T: 818.646.5000

F: 818.646.5001

A native of Southern California, Cooper McHatton is an associate at Masserman & Ducey.

At the University of California, Los Angeles, Cooper studied the social psychology of discrimination and the history of American civil rights movements, graduating with honors. Working to channel his passion into action, Cooper joined then-Senator Kamala Harris’s press team to make change on the national level. Seeing inequities in the State first-hand, Cooper believed that a career in the law would afford further opportunities to aid disenfranchised individuals across California.

While in law school, Cooper clerked at government agencies throughout California, including the Special Prosecutions Division of the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, the Workers’ Compensation Division of the Los Angeles County Counsel, and the Licensing Division of the California Department of Justice, all while continuously volunteering on local and national political campaigns. Cooper was also President of the Pepperdine chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, Programming Chair for the Pepperdine American Constitution Society, and Vice President of Operations for the Pepperdine Criminal Law Society. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2023 and started practice as an associate attorney at Lawyers for Justice, PC, working in the field of labor and employment law before joining Masserman & Ducey.

Cooper is passionate about securing the best possible outcomes for his clients. In his spare time, he volunteers on political campaigns, collects vintage campaign memorabilia, builds LEGO sets, and loves a good book.
